Shutting down Remote GOATs
Some weeks ago I launched an online community called Remote GOATs.
The idea was to connect six figures tech workers around the world, in order to unlock all kind of benefits.
I first launched it as a free service, and the result was pretty cool: you could see the value these people were getting connecting to each other.
After a couple of weeks, I realised that in order to maintain a high-quality community, it would have required me to invest quite a bit of time on it.
Moreover, as the creator, I also had to troubleshoot the legal aspect of it: how to protect me and other members in the community from unpredictable and potentially “bad” behaviours of people inside the community.
I wasn’t willing to invest this time for free.
So I made it paid.
Then, it didn’t grow as easily as the first, free version, and, while there would have been ways for me to keep working on it to grow it, I decided not to.
The reason is that I decided to prioritise 2 things that were already doing very well (this newsletter and the Euro Top Tech Jobs job board, and my coaching program), instead of stretching myself too thin and doing too many things without a good enough quality.
So I just shut it down and fully reimbursed everyone who joined as a paid member.
That’s, it - I thought I would share this with you for full transparency.
So from now on I will keep creating free content here and on LinkedIn, in addition to keep running and improving these 2 bad boys here 👇
Whenever you're ready, there are 2 ways I can help you:
