A few people asked me if I offer coaching and mentorship services.
In order to evaluate if there’s enough demand for it right now for me to start doing it, I thought I would gauge the audience about it.
I wouldn’t do it if it is just for a few people, given the “switching cost” of tuning it into such an activity and then going back to my other tasks.
That’s why I’m curious to know if I’m at a point where it makes sense for me to do it.
In the past I’ve done it a couple of times at https://mentorcruise.com/mentor/nicolaamadio/, and while it was a good experience, if I were to do it now, I would want to do it in a way that spans a longer period of time, and where I would have more control over the outcome.
Meaning I would only do it if I could treat it as a somewhat serious business.
I think this would require the mentorship to be a recurring activity, with a clear “starting point” for the mentee and a “successful result” at the end of the mentorship.
Navigating tech careers is a process, and often getting to a clear result takes months (if not years), and while having a “one-time” call can also be useful to ask some questions and clear some doubts, if we take a results oriented approach, then a longer-term relationship it’s where the true benefits lie IMO.
I will still continue to share my experiences and create content for free, so don’t worry about that :)
